Once an individual has submitted an application to volunteer with World Scouting, the International Commissioner of their National Scout Organization will receive an email listing the volunteer applicant’s details and information. This process will start from early September onward. After an email is received, the National Scout Organization will then need to review the information provided by the volunteer and endorse the volunteer applicant as being a registered member of Scouting in their country.
If the International Commissioner does not respond within 10 days of the email being sent, a follow-up email will be shared. If the endorsement is not provided within 45 days, the volunteer applicant will not be considered further.
Endorsing an applicant means that the National Scout Organisation supports the volunteer’s application to be included in World Scouting’s volunteer pool. This global roster serves as a waiting list from which volunteers can be selected based on their competencies for various projects and assignments throughout the 2024-2027 triennium.
An endorsement by a National Scout Organization does not guarantee a volunteer will be selected for a project or assignment; it simply confirms that the National Scout Organization acknowledges the individual as a Scout member and confirms they have met the requirements for Safe From Harm.
Once a volunteer is endorsed by their National Scout Organization, the endorsement is valid for the entire triennium and applies to any appointment within World Scouting, both at the World and Regional levels. A National Scout Organization may only withdraw their endorsement in the case of a Safe from Harm issue.
After an endorsement is provided by the National Scout Organization, our system will then automatically invite the volunteer applicant to fill in the remaining competencies information that needs to be provided as part of the application process.
The email that National Scout Organizations will receive will provide detailed instructions about how to review and endorse the volunteer applicant. For more information about the endorsement process, please contact us at volunteer@scout.org.
Yes, National Scout Organizations interested in knowing which volunteers are selected for the volunteer pool, or assigned to specific projects or assignments, can send an email from their National Scout Organization’s official contact to volunteer@scout.org, and the World Scouting team will respond with the relevant details and information of the volunteer applicant(s).
The volunteer applicants, endorsed by their National Scout Organization, are applying to be part of the World Scouting volunteer pool. They are not applying to be involved in a specific project or assignment. Once the World Triennial Plan 2024-2027 is approved and the different projects and assignments are established, the volunteer will be able to express their interest in them. If you want to know in advance which will be the potential projects and assignments, please read Conference Document 6B with the proposed draft objectives of the World Triennial Plan 2024-2027.
